Family Support

Clayton Educare has a two-fold focus on promoting the quality of the parent-child relationship.

  • The first is providing opportunities for parents to learn about child development and gain the abilities and confidence they need to be their child's first teacher and to participate in their child's education.
  • The second is making sure all staff have the skills and commitment to work with parents in a positive, culturally competent, and collaborative manner.

Parents participate in the development of their child's curriculum by setting home and school goals three times a year with the classroom teacher. In addition, they discuss their child's needs and progress through informal contacts. In addition, families receive support toward setting and achieving goals outlined in the "Family Partnership" agreements.

We believe that children's needs can only be addressed in the context of the entire family so we provide on-site family support services.

We employ a child-centered and family-focused approach to services, where parents are involved in all aspects of assessment, service plan development, and service delivery. We build on family's strengths, rather than focusing on needs or deficits, as we support them in reaching their goals. In addition, we encourage parent involvement in all aspects of the program, which includes participating in program planning, decision-making, and the development of classroom curricula. Our Family Support Staff have Master's and bachelor's degrees, and small caseloads to provide more individualized care.

What's more, our services are trans-disciplinary involving a team of staff who provide early childhood care and education, health, nutritional, social and other services while creating an environment of acceptance and inclusiveness that supports children with special needs.
